COMPASSION: Special Message from His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama is a “sonic journey” designed to bring deep feelings of inner peace to the listener. COMPASSION is the first musical collaboration and recording in history to fuse the ancient chant traditions of East and West, and was conceived and produced by renowned cello-soloist Michael Fitzpatrick, who provided the sacred music for the historic Gethsemani Encounter of East and West led by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. COMPASSION features a Special  Message from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the voice of the late Thomas Merton, the music of Tibet’s Drepung Loseling Monks, the Abbey of Gethsemani Schola, revered for its Gregorian chant, Millenia Music’s soaring instrumentalists, and cello solos by Fitzpatrick. It was recorded and filmed inside the largest cave in the world, Mammoth Cave, as well as inside the Abbey of Gethsemani and within the Furnace Mountain Zen Temple, all located within a 100-mile radius in the heart of Kentucky.

“ It is my hope that this music
will help people think about compassion, developing a sense
of caring and concern for all other members of our human family.”
— His Holiness The XIVth Dalai Lama
